
The broker statement reporting sales of stocks, bonds, and other securities with proceeds and, for covered shares, cost basis.
For stock the basis is usually right. For RSUs it is often reported as zero because the broker does not know the value was already taxed as wages, which double-taxes the vesting amount unless corrected on Form 8949.
Some did historically; since 2025 the crypto form is the 1099-DA. Treat any older 1099-B from an exchange the same way: proceeds are right, basis usually is not.
